KOPA 40YEARS
AKHNA

AKHNA were formed by the likeable George Kilikitas in the 1984 who owned the
famous Holloway Sports where all of Kopa clubs shopped.Akhna were a club who
could upset the big boys of Kopa for many years and at times had teams that were maybe capable of being Champions.First trophy Akhna won the 1985 Division 1 Cup but their best moment in their history toppling the mighty Athletic in the 1988 Division 1 Cup final.Akhna had stellar names that played for them with the football superstar Les Ferdinand having a brief stint with them in the 80s,other stars were KLN legend Tony Loizi,AEL legends John Loizides,Tanjo Banjo,Sean Abbot. The great John Sitton was also manager in 1991 but made a dramatic exit so Akhna had to
wait until the mid 1990s with a young talented team led by Vas Sotiriou,Steve Robinson,John Panayiotis, veteran George Artimadis to make an impact in Kopa
where they won the 1997 Division Cup and 1999 Challenge Cup,it was the best
period in Akhna history.George Kilikitas in 2001 sadly decided to end Akhna which surprised many,a few years ago Akhna were reformed which was embarrassing.
Akhna will be remembered for George'Holloway Sports'Klikitas years.
