KOPA 40YEARS 

OMONIA is one of the biggest clubs in KOPA and were formed

in 1974,they also were one of the founders of KOPA with a great history spanning 40 years.Nick Kyprianou a KOPA legend was

the catalyst for Omonia success as he won the 1977 Challenge Cup along with the great 1977-78 Double with Kopa legends like

Andy Kokkinos,Tony Georgiou,Mario Christodoulou,Tony Loizi

Barry Henley,Panniko Panayioutou to name,in 1979 Omonia lost their crown to the great KLN of Jimmy Cattle and couldn't regain

it for years after that.Nick Kyprianou then shocked Kopa by going

to Salamina but it didn't stop Omonia being the first Kopa Club to win the LFA Challenge Cup in 1982 and were 2nd to KLN in Kopa.

Nick Kyprianou soon returned but was 2nd to Salamina in 1985 before winning the Challenge Cup inspired by the magic of Kopa Great George Costa.Nick called time at Omonia flying off to AEL

taking all his great players,the greens were flattened until KLN

legend Jimmy Cattle took charge in the late 1980s building a top young team roaring to the title in 1991 ending 13 years of wait,it was one of the great feats breaking the awsome domination of

the great AEL.The Omonia success story carried on into the 90s

with Cup triumphs and another title in 1995.Omonia were on a

roll as they enjoyed two great Cyprus Champions tours in 1991 and 1995.Jimmy Cattle then retired with the Omonia great Tony Phillipou taking over and collected the fantastic treble in 1998.

Omonia then went quiet but returned winning the 2002 and 2003 Divisional Cups along with the 2006 Challenge Cup.The Greens

would then struggle appointing many limited managers until Dino Ippocratous was given the chance of getting Omonia back to the top,he did not disappoint winning the 2015 Challenge Cup along with the LFA Cup,2016 brought a Cup Double but had the title pinched off them again by Salamina.20 years have passed since

Omonia were Champions as the long wait continues.
