UNLUCKIEST MANAGERS

Tony Phillipou is an Omonia legend who won many titles and Cups with them,

he was also manager with them for many years winning the fantastic treble in

1998 which was the most successful year in their history to go with back to

back Division 1 Cups in 2002,2003,his last trophy was the 2006 Challenge Cup.

Mario Koureas is an Anorthosis legend,he won countless trophies with them during their pomp in the 1980s,he was one of the longest serving managers in Kopa at his beloved Anorthosis,he won the title for them in 2003 after 20 years along with the 2 Challenge Cups,he also managed Ermis.

Tom loizou was an Omonia great who won the title for Salamis in 2013 along

with the 1996 Challenge Cup and also had success as Kopa Mixth manager

winning the lnter league 4 times in 1998,1999,2001,2011.Tom is currently at Haringey F.C totally re-shaping them with promotion into the Rymans League.

Chris Theodorou is an Anorthosis legend who won the 2nd Title in

their history in 1983,he was also the first Player/Boss in Kopa history

to pull off the feat and was a talismatic part of the Anorthosis success.

George Georgiou will remembered for signing for Fulham in 1991,he also had

a brief stint in Cyprus and was all set to sign for Cyprus giants Omonia but opted for a better deal elsewhere,he's the current Salamis manager who's had success winning countless titles,cups and LFA trophies,2016 brought his best moment in Kopa winning the 2016 FA Sunday Cup but amazingly is the only manager in Kopa history to be ever sacked after winning the title in 2012.

Kenny Dyer became a true Salamina legend after he went to Cyprus and had

great success winning the 1990 Cyprus Cup to go with all the honours he won

at Salamina in Kopa,he also won the title at Salamina in 2000 as manager after the club went years missing out on the big prize.

Gursel Gulfer is an AEL legend and won everything with the most dominant club seen in Kopa,he also won Apoel the Kopa championship in 2014 to go with the 2013 LFA Challenge Cup triumph.Gursel has moved up a class and

is now managing Barkingside in the Rymans League.

Danny Bailey is one of the great success stories to come out of Kopa,

Bailey was a Salamina legend for years who went on to sign for Exeter

City and Reading having a long professional career,he also came back

to Kopa to manage little Panthea taking them to the 2008 title ending

the Aris domination in Kopa.

Michael Michalakis was the unluckiest manager in Kopa history,he lost the title 3 times,twice in unforgettable title finishes.Michael had a top team at Athletic but was stopped by awsome AEL in 1990.Michalakis next big title tilt came with Salamina

when he assembled one of the greatest ever squads but AEL cruelly blocked him

again in 1992 on goal difference.1999 was Michalakis last title punt again with Salamina and looked like he would end his title curse but fell at the final fence with

Dherynia stealing it as Michalakis never managed to enter the winners enclosure.

Michel Poyiagis for two years running was denied the Kopa title on the last game of the season by Aris but the 2006 race was in hellish circumstances as he looked a cert to lift the title with 2 games left when Kopa suddenly pulled the rug from under his feet deducting KLN 3 points leaving Aris to rob the title from under their nose.Michel suffered the cruelest of fates as destiny turned its back on him.

George loannou was part of the great Anemos and Olympiakos teams in Kopa,he's the only manager aside from KLN legend Jimmy Cattle to win

the title with KLN in 1996,he also managed Eleftheria,Carrera and Venus.
